What are YOU getting from BlogHer?

September 27th, 2010 | Posted By Cassie Boorn

Much has been said about the benefits of bringing a client to a major blogger conference and why (when done well) conference sponsorships can be an effective brand-and business-building tactic. The DVPR team was on the ground at this year’s BlogHer conference, helping coordinate our P&G client’s sponsorship of the event and their “Home Away from Home” expo experience. Here are some of our team’s impressions:

Jennifer Weldon, Senior Account Supervisor: “I was surprised how BlogHer was like an estrogen-infused CES. The same excitement for cutting-edge products and expert opinions exists, but with a woman’s touch.”

Stephanie Ofreneo, Account Supervisor: “I can say that a large number of attendees said that not only was it great to get products to try out, but they thought it was fun and interactive – participating in art activities with Bounty in the P&G House Kitchen, checking out the PUR GiveHealth station separating dirty particles from the water, getting a makeover with makeup artists in the Vanity Area with CoverGirl and Pantene, even playing with the dogs at the IAMS section in the Living Room.”

Jessica Greco, Account Coordinator: “As a BlogHer newbie, I was excited (and more than curious) to see what it was like. After hearing stories from all different groups of people- including PR people, bloggers, and media- I wasn’t sure what to expect. I ended up having the best time! I met so many fantastic people, both on the Expo floor and in our brand dinners. In fact, I had so much fun working in the Downy Bedroom on Friday that I managed to find a way back in on Saturday. I already can’t wait for next year in San Diego.”

Five Friday Links

September 24th, 2010 | Posted By Cassie Boorn

Every day millions of articles are published online. Sifting through these articles to find interesting and relevant content can be time consuming. Each week we gather five of the best articles that we find relevant to digital strategy, online engagement, and public relations. We hope you enjoy!

Mobile trends is one of the hottest topics in the digital space right now. More and more applications are entering the scene that capitalize on location based data and the need for consumers to access information on the go. This week Mashable shared with us the five mobile trends on the rise mobile technology continues to advance, we will see more and more brands connecting with busy consumers via mobile platforms. Recently the Gap found a way to educate consumers on their brand in a fun way while they were doing their shopping.

While most conversations today discuss the number of print publications deciding to go digital, this week we saw digital publications discussing the need for more print. The launch of the new design magazine Anthology clearly shows that print is not dead. The need for digital content is still growing and print publications are trying to find the best way to monetize this digital content. This week TCP launched The Content Project in an attempt to find out how much consumers are willing to pay for content.

The biggest news this week surrounds the launch of the New Twitter. While Twitter has created a brand interface that users will find easier to use and more interesting overall, it has opened up the opportunity for Twitter to finally monetize.

New Look, Same DVPR

September 10th, 2010 | Posted By Stephanie Smirnov

You may have noticed the DeVries PR website has been under construction. We realized that for an agency that prides itself on being in the know and innovative in how we use communications tools – especially digital ones – our site was a bit dated. So we went back to the drawing board to create something cleaner, leaner and far more dynamic. Something that reflects the agency we are today – not ten years ago.

Not only did we change the look and feel of the site, we’ve made it our goal to provide a regular flow of content that will help readers navigate the world of on- and off-line public relations. We’ll utilize our expertise and the relationships we’ve developed with some of today’s top influencers to share insights and knowledge in the form of blog posts (same name as our old blog – DeVries Conversations – just a new look), case studies and a new video podcast series.

Today we’re excited to share the first in our podcast series, a conversation with digital pioneer Maggie Mason. Maggie is the founder of MightyGirl.com, author and highly influential lifestyle blogger. We sat down with her recently to talk about brand-blogger collaboration – past, present and future.

There’s lots more to come, so please visit us here again!

Stephanie Smirnov is the President of the agency and can also be found at her personal blog PRMama.com.
