Fashion Blogging

August 30th, 2010 | Posted By Cassie Boorn

There has been a lot of talk this past year about the evolution of the fashion blogging industry. Google recently invited fashion blogging guru Jennine Jacob to give them insights into the world of fashion blogging. The recent BlogHer conference even added a new panel dedicated to the art of fashion blogging. The fashion blogging industry is on everyone’s mind.
What better time than now to host a conference to discuss the state of fashion blogging with some of today’s top fashion influencers. Evolving Influence will be held on September 9th in New York during New York Fashion week. Discussing everything from monetizing your fashion blog to providing good content. This conference is bound to be filled with tons of wisdom. Speakers include Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere, Susie Bubble, and Gala Darling. This conference is a must for any brand interested in working in the fashion blogging space and any blogger looking to grow their own influence.

Facebook Places

August 23rd, 2010 | Posted By Cassie Boorn

Recently Facebook has created a service that allows you to “check in” to your favorite places. All you have to do is log-in to your Facebook application on your phone and tap “Check-In.” A list of places near you will appear on your screen and you are able to check-in to the place that you currently are at. This feature also allows to tag friends who are with you.

This feature of course directly competes with location based leaders such as Foursquare and Gowalla. We shall see what effect Facebook places has on these services.

Who do you think will win the location based battle?

Who, What, When, and Now…Where
Facebook Places launched this week and as we all think of ideas for our clients, figuring out how to incorporate geo-location is a must. This is a competitor of Foursquare, but I still think that Foursquare will continue to be a strong competitor. People said the same thing about Twitter when Facebook copied their newsfeed model.

YouTube Launches Charts to Rank Top Web Videos
YouTube recently launched a new feature called YouTube Charts that highlights top videos. This feature will show viewers which videos are currently trending, all-time favorites and how various videos rank among users. YouTube Charts could be a good asset for brands who want to integrate videos into their campaigns because brands can see what consumers are interested in at the moment and gain insight into up-and-coming video trends.

Summer Service Day

August 4th, 2010 | Posted By Cassie Boorn

The agency’s second Summer Service Day was a huge success!
DeVries staffers participated in various community projects including table games and lunch with seniors in Brooklyn, mural painting at P.S./M.S. 140, Literacy & Crafts and Snactivities with kids at the Hudson Guild in Chelsea. Following the activities, everyone gathered at Sutton Place, where stories of the day were shared over drinks and appetizers. “The day spent at Cobble Hill Health Center not only encouraged the residents, but also reminded me that people of all ages need and appreciate contact with others. Even if it’s time spent while playing a board game or conversations about life, everyone can benefit from spending time with each other. I also think that our team leader Shana Claudio single-handedly brightened up everyone’s day! She did an amazing job and I was honored to be on her team”, said Marcy Alexis. “My experience at Hudson Guild was truly rewarding. The children were fantastic and the volunteers were so incredibly grateful to have the DeVries staff on-hand for the day”, said Lisa Sepulveda. “I loved the camaraderie and satisfaction I felt after my first DVPR Summer Service Day. It was a great way to get to know other colleagues and hope the mural puts a smile on the kids’ faces when they return to school!”, said Deepa Khetan.

Pre-BlogHer

August 2nd, 2010 | Posted By Cassie Boorn

We are so excited that BlogHer is nearly here! We love taking part in all of the excitement; and catching up with all of our friends in the blogosphere. Last year Tide had a special partnership with BlogHer in which we were able to bring Tim Gunn to meet all of the fabulous ladies.

This year we wanted to do something even more special. We know that conferences are a busy time running from session to session often without much time to relax. This year Proctor and Gamble wanted to give you a chance to relax through all of the hustle and bustle. Introducing P&G’s Home away from Home. We were so excited to have the lovely Danielle Smith involved and she does a great job explaining why having a home away from home is so very important at conferences.
